Colonial Arts Unit
Silhouettes

***********************************
Directions:

Digital photos were taken of each student in profile. The pictures were sized to 4x5 inches, printed out, and students drew a 1/2 inch grid directly on the picture.

They created a 1-inch grid on a separate piece of paper, and transferred--square by square--the contour line found in each square.

When they had a good contour, they cut out the enlarged image, and placed it FACE DOWN on silhouette paper. They traced around this using a white pencil and cut it out. Then flipping the image back over to the "right" side, it was mounted on white matboard.
