Site of the Robert P. Rhodes Homeplace
Nelson County, Virginia

This is the site of the Rhodes Homeplace that burned to the ground sometime between the years of 1878 and 1917. According to a long-time resident of the area, Miss Eliza and Miss Mary Rhodes had gone to the Rockfish post office and store, and upon their return, they found that a fire on another ridge had jumped the Rockfish River and had set their house on fire.

The property is located about a mile or so east of the Rockfish Depot, north of the Rockfish River, on Rt. 617.
