William Rhodes, his will


At mi death I want mi wife Mary E Rhodes to have what I now own her life time and at her death to go to her six children as I hav giv Joseph D. Rhodes our coach as his part in mi real and personal property. Mi daughter Sarah F. Gibson I giv one wagon at 45 dollars which I intend for hir part out of sade estate and I also leave hir hir own administration. I sold mi son Joseph a tract of land. John Rhodes, Coal Sneed and others for wich gave me one hundred dollars and has pade seventy five dollars and ten cash.

This do acknolledg to be mi last will and testament as long as she remains mi widow.

This paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of William Rhodes dec'd was produced into Court and Wm. F Bishop and H.D. Chisholm, two of the attesting witnesses, being present together & in the presence of said Wm Rhodes at the same time, heard him acknowledge said paper writing as his last will & testament & at his request & in his presence & in the presence of each other, --d the same as witnesses: and therefore said paper writing is considered fully proven and ordered to be recorded as the last will and testament of Wm Rhodes dec'd.
